Our mentoring program was developed in an effort to increase support to foster youth as they adjust to foster placements, and transition through the child welfare system.  Our mentors work with foster youth between the ages of 10-18.  Our mentors assume the role of coach, guide, or advisor, depending upon the individual need of the child. While mentors commit to a minimum of 12 months of service, the goal is to establish a supportive relationship that continues throughout the life of the child.

In 2011, Our Children's Keeper Child and Family Services  began recruiting and training mentors to work with the birth families of children in the foster care system.  The child welfare system can be intimidating to many parents who are seeking to heal their lives and restore their families.  The Parent Mentoring program is designed to help parents  effectively navigate through the child welfare system, provide parents with ongoing encouragement and support, and to provide strong parenting role models.
